In other Teams-related news, Microsoft launched last week a new device trade-in program for Teams in conjunction with Network-Value, a device trade-in specialist. Via this program, companies can get cash back by selling their video-conferencing hardware, desktop phones, and other unified communications devices as part of their move to Teams.

Microsoft’s Security Intelligence team warned this week that attackers are sending the OAuth phishing emails to “hundreds” of Office 365 customers. The potentially malicious app, dubbed ‘Upgrade’, asks users to grant it OAuth permissions that would allow attackers to create inbox rules, read and write emails and calendar items, and read contacts, according to Microsoft Security Intelligence. SEE: Cloud computing is the key to business success. Cannon-Brookes took to Twitter to announce that the Brookfield-led consortium, which includes Grok Ventures, Cannon-Brookes’ private investment company, is “putting our pens down”, after the Australian energy giant rejected a second takeover bid. “Our path was the world’s biggest decarbonisation project. The company, known for its widely used virtual private network (VPN) service, confirmed last week that a server it was renting from a data center in Finland was exploited by an attacker via an insecure remote management system left by the data center provider. According to NordVPN, the server did not contain any user activity logs, usernames or passwords. Nonetheless, the company said that it has enlisted the cybersecurity consulting firm VerSprite to run penetration testing, threat and vulnerability management, compliance management and assessment services on its infrastructure....

The new unit, known as IDSupport NSW, will become the single point of call for citizens who have had their identity stolen. The New Zealand Telecommunications Forum (TCF) has been given 60 working days to develop a binding code that will give users “sufficient notice” of any copper service change, that customers will know about the “full range” of alternative services including those from other providers, and information on how alternative services would perform. Users need to be told “actual peak” speeds and not the theoretical maximums of a connection technology. “Consumers have told us that marketing of alternatives to legacy copper-based services is often incomplete, confusing or misleading,” Telecommunications Commissioner Tristan Gilbertson said....
