The smart control set includes a garage door sensor and a hub. The sensor determines the current status of the garage door and communicates to the hub via Bluetooth. The hub is connected to Wi-Fi via your phone’s MyQ app, and works as a radio frequency (RF) remote control for the garage door. You can access the information from the MyQ app, then simply tap on “Close” from your phone. If you’re looking for even more security, MyQ also has a separate garage camera. Most doors built after 1993 with safety sensors are compatible with this smart garage control. The MyQ app has been simply life-changing for me. No matter how organized I try to stay in my daily life, the garage door still has me turning the car around just to make sure I’ve closed it. Now, I’ve added schedules to ensure the garage closes every evening in case I forget to do it myself (which happens at least three times a week). Although this app isn’t readily compatible with Alexa or HomeKit, it’s the only app I truly don’t mind being separate from my Apple Home app – simply because the trouble is worth it. I can check on my garage from wherever I am and replace the pesky clicker with my trusty smartphone when I need to quickly grab something from the garage. Plus, the schedules have eliminated worry that has plagued me since I’ve had a garage.
